Once Upon a Time ...

When I first stepped onto Greek soil – after a twenty two hour flight - I wanted to run for home.

Rain, wind and a good measure of smog, cloaked Athens in a grey haze.  The cold settled into my bones.  After a few days,  I boarded a ferry, lurching across billowing seas to the Saronic Islands.  The miserable weather did not improve.

Five weeks later I was enslaved.  Weather bound on a Greek island created a catalyst - embracing me with the warmth and generosity of the Greeks.  A warmth that has beckoned me year after year for 15 years.

Since that time, I have been exploring, recording and photographing my travels throughout this amazing land, forever enthralled with the luminosity of Greek light.

In the 19th century, Goethe commented – “Of all peoples, the Greeks have dreamt the dream of life the best.”

For me, Greece was once only a dream.  Now it is – “the dream of life...”
